Our Car is an Ambulance

South Western Ambulance Service NHS TrustThe majority of Mongol Rally teams travel in cars that follow the 1 litre rule; that’s a lot of Nissan Micras and Fiat Pandas.  However, the rally organizers have granted us special permission to wave the limit on engine size if we travel in an ambulance which, will be donated directly to a hospital on our arrival.

South Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust have donated a 1999 Mercedes Sprinter to us - it's currently in Taunton getting a bit of loving care and attention having been parked up for a while in retirement.

Last year’s rally saw three teams arrive safely in Ulaanbaatar in charge of ambulances.  The impact this had in the community was amazing and has made a real difference to people’s lives.

The newest ambulance was donated to Mongolia's only casualty hospital, the second donated to the maternity hospital and the third was donated to the Bayanzurkh District Disabled Peoples Association.

Please do read the linked article from the official rally website which explains more about the impact that taking ambulances has already had and what happens to them once they arrive in Mongolia.

What about the
Environment?

Estimated carbon emission for 10,000 miles driving a 1.2 litre engine car = 2.665 tonnes

To offset our carbon footprint we are funding the planting of 3 trees in London, offseting our CO2 emissions by approximately 3000 tonnes.

Take a look at our tree certificate or for more information on planting trees please visit the Carbon Footprint website
